🐦 Birding with AI: Build or order your own smart listening station in 2025
What is BirdNET-Pi?
BirdNET-Pi is an open source AI project based on technology from the Cornell Lab of Ornithology and the Chemnitz University of Technology. The software runs on a Raspberry Pi — a mini-computer the size of a credit card — and automatically recognises bird sounds from the environment.
As soon as the system is running, you listen live with nature. Every bird that sings or calls is recognised and captured. Through a clear interface, you can view, analyse and possibly share your observations with researchers worldwide.

🏠 No technical knowledge? Order a Watch House
Would you like to contribute, but don't feel like building or programming yourself? Then we have a ready-made solution for you: the ECZ BirdNET PI Watch House. A fully configured system, which you only have to connect. Plug and play.
